Banff Fest Dhaka | 2011

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, a three-day international film festival and competition, begins today at Goethe-Institut Dhaka (German Cultural Centre) in Dhanmondi in the city.

The festival on short films and documentaries on the culture, sports and environment based on mountains will be showcased in 32 countries around the globe. This is the second time the festival is taking place in Bangladesh, says a press release.
A total of 260 films entered into the competition and around 60 top films were selected to be shown at the festival. The international film festival jury will choose the best films and present awards in various categories.

High Commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh Robert McDougall, Goethe-Institut Dhaka Director Judith Mirschberger and The BanglaBazar Patrika acting editor Manzur Ehsan Chowdhury will be present at the opening ceremony today as special guests.
