KM Asad/ Zuma Press


A photograph from Asad’s detailed coverage of the Rohingya refugee crisis on the Bangladesh-Myanmar border featured on the cover of the August 2019 issue of National Geographic Magazine and his work is also in the permanent collection of the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts (KMOPA) in Japan.

Asad has received numerous honors and awards including UNICEF Picture Of the Year, China International Press Photo Contest (CHIPP),  Picture of the Year International (POYI), Days Japan International Photojournalism Award, New York Press Photographers Association (NPPA), and The Lucie Award (IPA).

As well as working independently, Asad contracts for Zuma Press, contributes to Getty Images, and is a fixed-term consultant for the World Bank in Bangladesh. His other clients include the United Nations (UN), European Union (EU), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Agence-France Presse (AFP) Service, Plan Bangladesh, EDUCO, Forbes, and UNDP Bangladesh.

bdnews24.com’s Head of News Photography, Rahman has received numerous honors and awards. These include the Grand Prize in the 2014 SAARC Photography Contest organized by the SAARC Cultural Centre in Colombo, the Grand Prize in the 2017 photo contest by the Washington-based Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP), and First Prize in the Mangrove Photography Award organized by the Mangrove Action Project in Seattle, USA.

His photographs have been published in many national and international publications, including the BBC, The Guardian, and Deutsche Welle (DW).

Rahman has participated in numerous solo and joint photo exhibitions both locally and internationally, including in Italy, Mexico, Japan, and Bahrain.

Zaman’s work has been published widely locally and all over the world . Such as The New York Times, The Guardian, The Daily Mail, China Daily, The Washington Post, The Daily Telegraph, The Wall Street Journal, The Times of India, The Independent, Los Angeles Times, Financial Times, Aljazeera, The Daily Star, The Prothom Alo and many more.Zaman is also a war photographer, covered war in Afganistan and received many awards including Human Rights Press Award in 2014.


Shafiqul Alam Kiron/ Co-founders of Map Photo Agency


Kiron is one of the most influential photographers in independent Bangladesh. He is the first Bangladeshi photographer to receive the World Press Photo award in 1998 and 2000 for his work on Acid Survivors. His works has been published in renowned international journals as Paris March, Biba Magazine, New Internationalists, Sunday Times,  REVU,  De Volkskrant and The Independent, London.He has received numerous international awards and has exhibited his works globally, including at the World Press Exhibition in Amsterdam and at Drik Gallery in Dhaka in 1999. His work was also showcased from August 28 to September 12, 1999, at Visa pour l’Image in Perpignan, France.Kiron was a member of the jury panel of  Transparency International’s Anti-corruption Photo Contest.


Aditya Pundir/ Climate Reality Project India & South Asia


Aditya Pundir is the branch manager for The Climate Reality Project India & South Asia. He took over the branch in 2010 and is posted in New Delhi. He received his training from Honourable Al Gore in 2009 in Australia.


Judging Criteria


Relevance to Theme: How well the photograph addresses the contest themes.
Visual Impact: The overall aesthetic quality and emotional resonance of the image.
Technical Proficiency: The technical skill demonstrated in the composition, lighting, and focus.
Originality: The creativity and uniqueness of the photograph.


Editing:  Minimal editing allowed (cropping, exposure adjustment). No compositing or unreal arranged photo. No heavy manipulation.
